More spring break strikes

Where did we leave off? Ah, yes...broken air conditioning. So, after we three Moms wait around for the AC guy to arrive, he tells us that we need an entirely new thermostat! OK. That didn't take very long so we headed to the beach for a sunny and beautiful day! The sand on the west coast is so much lighter, softer and cooler than that of the east coast. When I was growing up on the east coast, the brown, rough sand would get so hot that we literately had to run to our towels after getting out of the water, so the bottoms of our feet didn't get burnt. Oww! Good times!

When our beach day was over and we headed back to our place, it smelled like obvious mildew. Greeeaaat. Another strike - number 6 to be exact. We narrowed it down to the boys putting wet bathing suits in the "dirty clothes bags" which were nothing more than Publix bags. Why wouldn't they hang their bathing suits to dry first? Who knows. They are teenage boys though, so we'll give them some grace...but just a little bit.
So, we gathered the laundry and took it out to the washing machine. We notice that the area says "private, employees only". Oh no, am I feeling a strike 7 coming on? I sure was. "We don't offer that service" is what we were told. We weren't asking for them to do the laundry. We wanted to do it ourselves, but to no avail. I guess we'll just have to live with the smell of mildew and wet, sweaty shoes for a week. Such a nice combo.
I'll jump ahead to our final day as we were doing our last walk-through to make sure we weren't forgetting anything -- i.e. an entire drawer of my shorts and shirts! I couldn't even blame it on the boys. It was my fault. Thank goodness my friend noticed. I mean I love my Vineyard Vines shorts. Maybe I'll actually get some warm weather up here and get a chance to wear them sometime soon!
We also noticed one more very important thing. The couch we had been sitting on all week was actually a pull-out couch. That means we could've shoved the boys out there and had the rooms to ourselves. I won't call that a strike because it wasn't a setback, just a dumb oversite on our behalf. Oh, and one more thing and I WILL add this to our strike list making our a total 8 strikes and a big one at that! Never put sunscreen on at the beach because you're in a rush to get there and think "I'll just put some on at the beach!" No, no, no unless you want the wind to blow the spray-on sunscreen away and have it not even touch you! The fronts of my legs look like polka dots (I guess some did make it onto my legs) and I kid you not, but I cannot put a picture...the backs of ALL THREE of our legs are fried! Fried to the point of painful to walk or site down. Epic fail there. I am still slathering myself with the aloe/sunscreen I had to buy after mine got thrown away.

All in all, it was a fabulous trip! We had a blast, and we were so sad to have to leave. The plane ride home from a vacation is always depressing but we made it home safe and sound. I guess we'll have to make this an annual trip!!!
