It's a twister, it's a twister...

Oh man, did we have a storm on Sunday! Being from Florida, I am used to storms and hurricanes, but the difference is, with accordion shutters in Florida, you can't see the actual storm. Well, here in the MIdwest...you totally can. Tornado warning and there's nothing on your windows. What I saw outside I have been describing as The Wizard of Oz! I watched trees (pine trees) bending halfway over with the wind gusts and all I can say is WOW!

Unfortunately, we did lose power during the storm, and it took 48 hours to come back on. If I am in Florida, yeah, a dark house with no power is a bad situation but at least it's not 54 degrees in your house (I only know this because when the power DID come back on, that is what the thermostat said). In Florida you sweat. You're clammy and gross but at least the water in the shower is either the temp of a pool or slightly cold. Imagine when it's been winter weather for at least 8 months and all the pumps in your yard have been buried under frozen ground and snow.

Needless to say, I went to a hotel. My husband and my son stayed at home by choice (with Ralphie and Butch who burrowed themselves under 4 blankets). I couldn't do it. I was shivering. I stayed Sunday night but was late to work Monday because even with a lantern, it's hard for a woman to get dressed in the dark.

Monday is when I caved and went to the hotel. I have Raynaud's syndrome and for anyone who doesn't know what that is...see the picture and cringe. My hands get tingly, numb, and kind of burn. They thaw after about an hour. This happens even with gloves on. I haven't had it all my life (even though how would I know if I was in Florida...ha ha) so maybe it's just that my skin is thinning. Welcome to the world of aging.

Anyway, power back on yesterday at dinner time and back to business as usual!!! Except for one thing. It's supposed to rain all week! Please keep power, please keep power.
